I am trying to use Gridview to open some old data from 2010. When I open Gridview, I point it to the folder where the old data is. Then I open the view in the same folder but it says, "Unable to create a connection to the database!" What am I doing wrong?

Hi Susan,

A common reason for this is that a GridView inquiry based on Company A works because the data file exists, but pointing the inquiry at Company B fails because the same data file doesn't exist there. What table is your GridView view based on - when you open the Definition (F4)? Is there a 'wildcard' defined and if so, what do you see?

The table is *SR Trans w AR, OE Head, IC.

Ontario Electronic Stewardship wants to see our data from 2010 and I am not happy about this. We have complied since the beginning unlike so many other companies. I suppose that makes us an easy target for them to audit.

I need to view the data from 2010 to produce the results they want.

When I open Gridview, I use this data path: T:\Accounting\YrEnd\Adagio\2009-10\Data.

The I open the view in the same folder but I get the error, "Unable to create a connection to the database!".

Originally this data was in I:\Data, however it's now in this back up location.

Is there a way to use Gridview to view my data in the T:\Accounting\YrEnd\Adagio\2009-10\Data folder?

Hi, Susan,

The error occurs when you open that view. What happens if you create a new view using the same table?

There may be an inquiry used in the existing view that the data doesn't satisfy.

Got it! Seems that *SR Trans w AR, OE Head, IC doesn't exist when I recreate the view, so I used SR Transactions instead and presto! Did I mention that I don't like OES? :-|
