When printing audit lists at Day End in Order Entry, our client gets an error message that cannot create the PDF file because the file is in use.

They have a many transactions a day. ePrint was set to append date/time on conflict. However, after printing the Invoice Audit List which shows Append date/time in conflict, it starts printing the Credit Note Audit list and it tries to append to the Invoice file. It shows just Append on conflict.

This is not an issue that can be recreated easily. I tried to recreate it with the dataset that failed on the Server where it failed but I couldn't. I think it is a timing issue.

It will help if the Credit Note PDF file is saved under a different name instead of trying to append it to the Invoice File.

Any other ideas?

The way this particular report was configured and designed with ePrint was to keep both the Invoice and Credit Note Audit List reports together in a single PDF file. The Credit Note report will always append the Invoice report, regardless of the File Conflict setting.

Would you like separate PDF files? Or are you just looking for a solution to the error message that the PDF file was in use, such as a pause between reports to allow the system to release the file?

I would be ideal to keep the reports together. Day End works runs unattended por this client and it is failing every night and losing the Credit Notes Audit list.

We were not able to recreate the issue in our system or theirs during the day, but it still happens at night. Would it be too difficult to put a pause between reports? The pause could be just of a couple of seconds. I don't think more delay is required or otherwise I could have been able to recreate the issue.

Are you running Day End at night with a macro? Could it be related to that?

We were running Day End at night with a macro. Now, the client is running it manually. The error showed up as well. The problem is that it doesn't happen all the time so it is difficult to recreate. It depends on how big is the audit list and how fast is the system at the time. It will help to have a delay between the reports or handle the error that says that the file is in use and wait.

Even better would be two separate reports, then it doesn't have to figure out if the Invoice Audit report is still printing before starting the Credit Note Audit report.

The plan is to have 2 separate reports if desired. The ePrint PDF file name will support the %FRM code to translate 'Invoice' and 'CreditNote' and 2 PDF files will get created. If the %FRM code is not used, then a single combined PDF will continue to be generated.

This is not yet completed.

Do you have an estimate when this issue will be solved?
