Payables 8.1F

Situation: We have an open invoice batch. When we first start payables the Post icon is available. If we click the Post icon and then leave without posting, the Post icon and the Post menu both become deactivated (grayed out). The only way to post a batch from that point on is through the Edit Invoices menu.

Does anyone else experience this situation?

Hi Johnd,

Could you clarify your statement regarding 'if we click the Post icon and then leave without posting'? Does that mean someone clicks the Post button on the toolbar, does not post any batches or cancel, and leaves it that way? Or a different scenario? Which user(s) see the Post button and menu deactivated - just the person who clicked the Post button, or others?

When the Post button is clicked on the Toolbar, it becomes inaccessible so that it cannot be clicked again by that user. The button will become accessible when the Post screen is cancelled, or if batches are posted. If this issue is that someone left the Post screen open and did not complete their task, were you hoping to have a way to shut down that user in AP so that someone else can complete the posting task?

Other users in the system will get a locking message when attempting to post, because multiple users should not be able to post concurrently. I do not see the Post button or menu inaccessible in this case, provided that the user has Security rights to posting. And posting from the Edit Invoices menu is also correctly prevented if someone is sitting on the Post screen.

Hi Support,

When a user clicks on the Post icon in the toolbar, and then clicks Close (without posting) the Post icon and the Post menu both remain in a deactivated state.

You state that "the button will become accessible when the Post screen is cancelled", but this is not what we are experiencing. For us they remain inaccessible. In order to post he has to access Post through the Edit Invoices menu.

If the user closes and then re-opens the dataset the Post icon will become available once again.

There is only one user, and the data resides on the C drive of that user's machine.

Hi Johnd,

Thank you for the clarification. The initial release of Payables 8.1F had a problem with this if the 'red X' button was used to close the Post screen instead of the Cancel button. This has been addressed in a Hot Fix dated Oct 16, 2013 that you can get from your Adagio Consultant.
